Step IV - The SCAN-Feature

It can be tedious to find the optimum set of beam energy and radiation wavelength for maximum gain. The scan feature of GENESIS 1.3 helps by performing several runs for different wavelength or energies. To start a scan the scan parameter has to be defined. It is simply done be assigning the name of the parameter to be scanned to SCAN. As an example SCAN = 'XLAMDS' scans over the radiation wavelength. Only two other parameters are needed to complete the input for a scan-run. NSCAN defines the number of runs of the scan while SVAR limits the scan range. As an example SVAR = 0.1 and NSCAN = 5 will result in five runs at wavelengths of 90%, 95%, 100%, 105% and 110% of the input wavelength XLAMDS. The scan feature will automatically adjust the input deck internally to start with the same initial conditions at each run.
